Life Is One Great Big Journey! Make The Most Of It.
I am a fully qualified Sound Therapist, Reiki, Meditation and Mindfulness practitioner, but if you’d have said to me even just a few short years ago, that this is what I would be doing, that I could be the one to really help others on their journey, then I would have just laughed it off and said you were mad. At the time I was a craft baker, and always thought this would be the case, yet deep within I knew that there was something more I could do, not only to help myself, but to use my experience to help others. So, as I look back on where I was, to where I am now, if it hadn’t have been for the challenges in life to date, then I wouldn’t have been who I am today and for that I have so much gratitude.
Lacking Self Confidence/Self Love!
A big part of the journey for me stems from being bullied in high school, which created a lack of confidence in ‘self’ as well as depression and anxiety. It is for this reason I often held back, in adult life and would be afraid to speak up for fear of being shut down, ignored or left feeling unworthy and I found it difficult to trust others and to make friends for many years.
I knew that something had to change, and so the journey of self discovery begun, layer by layer, like peeling back an onion. In time I begun to understand that I was not only lacking in self confidence, but also self love, for in order to truly be able to move forward, you have got to learn to trust, accept and love yourself first, to do the inner work so that life can truly begin.
Personal power is a part of this, and once I started to realise this, the support was there and my confidence grew, but ultimately, sound, for me was the greatest contributor. A ‘Group Soundbath’ was my first real experience of the power of sound as a healing tool, I felt a deep shift had begun to occur within; It is this experience that made me want to go deeper and so I tried out 1to1 sessions too, the therapeutic sounds really helped me mentally and emotionally to gain a richer understanding of myself. It was at this point I knew I had to combine my love for musical instruments with wanting to help others on their journey, and so I trained as a Sound Therapist.
How Sound Therapy Works: The Benefits Of Sound, As A Tool For Healing.
Sound therapy is a process by which a variety of instruments are used to produce therapeutic sound, using frequency and vibration, assisting you on a mental, emotional, physical and spiritual level, which has been shown to have a significant effect on your state of health and wellbeing and creating transformational changes in how you live your life. When an instrument such as Tuning Forks and Himalayan Singing Bowls are played, they produce a frequency and vibration, which travels through air and matter (much like ripples across a pond). These ‘waves’ of sound that are created, interact with the aura, the human bio-field, the neurons and brainwaves, as well as interacting and affecting the Sympathetic and Parasympathetic nervous system, via the Vagus Nerve, in turn affecting every cell within the body.
During sound therapy sessions, you often experience a deeply relaxing effect, upon the mind, body and soul. Most of our awakened day, we spend most of our time in the ‘Beta’ brainwave state, where we often experience stress, anxiety, depression and other aspects of day to day life, that can upset the natural rhythm of our bodies, yet with the use of sound therapy you often find you can be taken deep within the ‘Delta’ brainwave state, this is a point where your mind, body and spirit can truly rest, and begin the process of repairing the cells and healing your body, in turn allowing you to truly rest and rejuvenate, promoting and leading to an improvement in your overall health and wellbeing.
Sound Therapy can assist in regulating blood pressure, reduced pain and inflammation, improving quality of sleep, mental clarity and energy levels, as well as aiding in the clearing of blockages connected with past life & ancestral traumas and in recent years scientific studies have also shown sound therapy to assist in improving memory recall in those with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, the benefits are truly endless.
