Damon “DaRil” Nailer – The Power of Meditation

Meditation?  Why?  Believe it or not, meditation is a powerful practice.  What makes it so effective is the fact that you are speaking words inwardly, which generates energy and momentum.  This occurs because words contain transformative power.  The types of words/phrases you speak will produce an effect.  Positive words will create positive energy, resulting in good outcomes, and negative words will create negative energy, resulting in bad outcomes.  Due to this principle, we must be cognizant of what we are pondering and concentrating on because ultimately, this is what we will manifest in our attitudes, emotions, and actions.

Here is a prime example of the power of words.  Years ago, I served as a judge in a local science fair. The experience was extremely rewarding. During this event, my partner and I critiqued many awesome, wonderful projects. However, out of all of them, one really got my attention and has stuck with me ever since.

The concept investigated was The Impact of Music on Plant Life. The experiment involved a young lady who provided a plant with sufficient sunlight and water while altering only one variable – the music she played in the room where the plant was located. For the first few days, she played music that contained evil, negative, gloomy lyrics. She observed that this caused the plant to begin wilting and dying. After she noticed this, she started playing music that contained good, positive, inspirational lyrics. Lo and behold, the plant literally began to come back to life and bloom again.

Why?  Even though we may not fully comprehend it, our words spoken inwardly or outwardly have tremendous power and can affect the elements, life forms, and most importantly, humans.

Additionally, what also makes meditation so great is that it has tremendous benefits, such as enhanced mental clarity – it will enable you to become clear and concise in planning your goals and executing your tasks; improved concentration – meditation will increase the length of your attention span, causing you to be mindful and in the moment when using your short term memory; stronger memory – because you will be constantly exercising and strengthening your mind, meditation will cause you to develop a process and system for transferring information from your short term memory to your long term memory.

For beginners, listening to podcasts, watching videos, attending a class, or scheduling a one on one session that teaches focused meditation (the form of meditation whereas you ponder words, visualize, and concentrate on words, goals, ideas, etc) could prove to be very beneficial.  If you are not able to access any of the aforementioned resources, self-exploration would be your best bet.  Regardless, if you are a beginner or expert:,

Here Are Some Tips For Meditating:

1. Find a quiet, comfortable place to meditate.

2. List your goals for life, career, family, finances, relationships, etc and visualize yourself obtaining these goals.

3. Practice meditating (speaking inwardly) on these concepts day/night, preferably when you awake and before you retire.  This way, it starts your day off by setting a good tone and ends your day, even accompanying you as you sleep.

4. As you meditate on these various elements, you will increase and intensify your vision of these things being fulfilled, build your faith, receive encouragement, and often gain some greater insight into tasks you can complete to accomplish your goals.
