I sat in a dimly lit hotel ballroom furiously taking notes while the man on stage told us how to manifest our best life.

I wrote down happiness as my primary desire and wondered if I was being too grandiose.

Then he bellowed into the audience, “How many of you wrote down happiness?”
I raised my hand tentatively and looked around. In a ballroom of 100 people, I was the only one.

He continued, “Happiness is the core of what everyone wants. Most people waste their lives thinking stuff and people is what they want, but in truth every Soul desires to be happy.”

Over the many years since that seminar, I’ve been able to distill the “how” of this to three specific focus areas so that you can live a happy, joyful life too.

Love Yourself. No, Like Really, Love Yourself

The most self-loving action you can ever take is to be fully emotionally available to yourself. That means, instead of stuffing emotions, you stop and simply observe them flowing through you – without judgement or without trying to control them. You can then make healthy decisions for your life on the other side of being present to your emotions.

Make Daily Spiritual Practice Your Anchor

To experience true happiness, you must be connected to who you really are. And who you really are is a spiritual being in human form. Practices like daily prayer and meditation allow you to stay connected to your true essence. When you’re connected, no matter what happens in life and in the world around you, you have a safe haven of support and connection that brings you joy.

Be Here Now

Spiritual teachers have been telling us this for more than a hot minute – you and I need to be present; we need to be here now. We need to put our focus not on what happened in the past or what might happen in the future, but instead be fully “in” this moment right here, right now. Feel the air on your skin and feel your breath moving in and out of your body – get present and you’ll experience true joy.
